about

does j.i.c. stand for anything?

Yes. J.I.C. is an abbreviation of my web address, Josh-In-Cambodia.org. I spent 3 months in 2006 in Cambodia doing linguistic fieldwork, and my wife and I plan to return there some day to do linguistic and missionary work. So even though I’m not in Cambodia now, that’s where my heart is.

i guess you’re josh?

Good guess. I’m Josh Jensen, and I’m a full-time PhD student in Linguistics at The University of Texas at Arlington. (If you take a look at my portfolio page, you’ll see that I designed the website for the Department of Linguistics and TESOL.) My focus is sound structure, and I’ll probably write my dissertation about Jarai, an indigenous language in northeast Cambodia.

why web design?

I learned how to design web sites while working for Carolina Hope Christian Adoption Agency (find out more at my portfolio page). At the same time, my dad, the director of EMU International, asked me to help the mission get up a website (also on my portfolio page). Since then, I’ve done a few other sites, and I really enjoy it.

Also, being a grad student, I’m always happy to earn a little extra cash.

will you design my site?

Probably. Contact me, and we’ll discuss your needs.
